Glass Art September/October 1993 issue

Windows to Life
On May 23 through 30, Johannes Schreiter taught a week-long, hands-on design workshop with 16 leading professional glass artists. The main objective of the workshop was to design collaboratively "The Windows to Life", a 291-square-foot public art commission which will be donated to The AIDS/HIV Life Center, a community resource and services center, located on a prominent site in the heart of San Francisco.

From Lampworking to Beadmaking
Lewis C. Wilson has taught lampworking since the mid-1970s and since 1992, has been in demand as a teacher of wire wound glass beadmaking. In 1993, he produced a highly regarded how-to beadmaking video. Wilson discusses his lampworked sculptural pieces as well as his beadmaking techniques.

Developing a Marketing Plan
When you market your glasswork or promote your store, you offer the buyer a product. Although your work may be very special to you and perhaps your services unique, they're products. Like automobiles, soda or any other commodity, your product has to be marketed to be sold.

Sandblast Carving Nuances: Disappearing Lines
Kathy Bradford further addresses a couple of different techniques pertaining to sandblast carving.

St. Michael's Episcopal Church Windows
For five years, two days a week, dozens of St. Michael's parishioners in Colonie, New York, volunteered time to create 60 stained glass windows. No one had any experience; they started as novices and ended as stained glass craftsmen.
