Provoking Movement with Fused Glass

Tim Carey expands the boundaries of traditional stained glass methods by merging them with fused glass techniques. After working with Judson Studios for fourteen years, Carey opened his own studio and has worked together with mentor Narcissus Quagliata to develop a process for designing fused glass images for use in architectural applications.

The vision guiding the studio is Acts of Light, as Christina seeks to enlist the human inclination to gravitate toward light and use it to lighten the darkness in the world.

During the annual Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) conferences, the Mosaic Marathon brings members together for a unique opportunity to create a mosaic in a cooperative experience. SAMA members recently created WATER, a large mosaic mural that now hangs on the wall at the Harbor Islands Pavilion in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Beginnings of Glass Christmas Tree Ornaments

The silvery glass fruits that are used for decorating trees at Christmastime originated in Lauscha, Germany, and were mirrored internally with a lead and tin alloy. Over the years they became more ornate as enamels were used to decorate the surface and molds were used to produce a variety of objects.
