When sculptor Steve Maeck discovered dalle de verre panels in a Florida junkyard, he immediately visualized a new artistic reality for them in rural Iowa. "The Big Spring Panel Project" can be found on a beautiful ridge and quarry on the outskirts of the small city of Decorah. The installation features 16 panels located at various points on a mile-long trail. Construction required the skills of local ironworkers, blacksmiths, riggers and laborers to erect the panels, originally created almost 40 years ago.
