This workshop encourages students to examine familiar restraints and develop comfort in not knowing. Beginning with exploratory drawing exercises, you'll then move quickly into powder work. Single-layer black and white powder studies will encourage increasingly individual and sophisticated work and culminate in resonant multi-layered monochromatic and color projects. Particular attention will be given to developing form on a single layer within layered work. Students will be encouraged to experiment with materials and strategies for invention within a stimulating and supportive environment that stresses the creative process of moving from idea to concept sketches toward final resolution and critique. Open to all skill levels. No prerequisites.
