Phil has come up with a whole set of advanced kiln forming techniques for this new 2-day class. The emphasis of this survey class is: studying new and diverse mold materials, specifics on how to get the best results from each and understanding the great variety of results that are unique to each specific material. Project 1 – Using Hi Aluminum mold mix, students will make and cast in glass an actual leaf using this incredible high detail mold mix. This is a two sided press mold. Project 2 – Freeze and Fuse leaf mold will be made. Project 3 – You will learn how to make a two part mold using RTV Urethane rubber. This is a great production process because the RTV molds are used to make wax for castings. Project 4 - Casting a Glass strawberry -One takes an organic Project 5 - Reverse Kiln Casting. This is a billet casting with an image inside the cast glass. With the execution of these five projects, you will learn to use different molds, investment materials, clays and rubbers. Complete firing and annealing schedules will be discussed along with informative and inspiring slide shows.  We want to emphasize this is an intense advanced class that will keep you working
for the full two days. The "Cire perdue" method of sculpting will be used to create a 2" x 2" x 1" lost wax sculpture that can have undercuts and the finest details. Your detailed "sculpey clay" model will be cast into a two part rubber mold. Wax castings can be repeatedly formed from the rubber mold. There will be pre-made wax projects to use during class. Students bring: X-acto OSHA Mask, lace tool for clay shifting screens.
