This lampwork marble class will be for the beginning flame workers to intermediate students interested in learning more about the process of making marbles.
The first day will begin include several demos of basic marbles along with an ongoing conversation with the instructor, that will cover flame atmospheres, or flame chemistry, use of color, and the correct application of dichroic glass to achieve some "Bling-Bling" in our marbles. Throughout the day there will also be an emphasis on the proper techniques in the forming and shaping of marbles. All demos will be followed by time on the torch for students to apply and reinforce the instruction.
On day two, we will take the previous days information and set our sights on creating the popular and challenging "Vortex Marble". This focus will breakdown the steps of making the marble, but more importantly the "why" behind each step, and how it contributes to the optical illusion the characterizes the vortex marble. All students will leave class with several marbles they have made, and one of Josh's demo marbles.
