Learn how to photograph glass beads, kiln formed glass, stained glass and other glass objects with an experienced commercial photographer and glass artist.

Basic lighting and composition of a successful photograph will be covered. Camera menu setup of shutter speed, f-stop, ISO, color balance and file size settings will be discussed. Students will be provided with a list of inexpensive materials they can purchase after the class from "big box" stores to build their own basic lighting boxes and systems.

Students bring: 6-8 glass beads or glass pieces to be photographed by the student in class; Personal DSLR or advanced point-and-shoot camera with manual exposure and macro focus and storage card, instruction book, tripod if available. Students should have some basic experience with these cameras and be able to access and set the menus for shutter speed, f-stop, ISO, color balance and file size settings. Basic point-and-shoot cameras without manual exposure or limited f-stop choices are inadequate for photographing glass; notepad, pen or pencil.
