Explore the use of resin as a means to mount small objects in jewelry pieces. This class will provide instruction on the entire process, from the creation of a PMC fine silver bezel cup pendant to the final mounting of tiny seashore items.
This is a two day class. Students will capture tiny items in their own custom PMC fine silver bezel cup and also in pre-made copper or bronze bezel cups.
Project Day 1: A finished, fired and polished PMC fine silver bezel cup
Project Day 2: Tiny sea life items suspended in a field of clear resin and contained in PMC fine silver and copper or bronze bezel cups.
Techniques:
- Design, construct, fire and polish a bezel cup using PMC fine silver clay.
- Provide a colorful background inside the bezel.
- Capture a carefully selected mix of tiny items in layers of clear one-step resin using a common UV light source.
Materials: PMC 3 clay and paste. An eclectic mix of miniature items: sea shells, small stones, watch parts, fossils, stamps, photographs, in short, anything that catches your fancy. Devos Studios Ultra Resin. All materials may be purchased at the time of the class.
Students may also bring their own tiny items.
