The Calusa Indians lived in Southwest Florida for hundreds of years.  They expressed their artistic themes in the materials available to them including wood, shell, bone, plant fiber, leather, feathers, and later metal.  They were excellent carvers.  Mary Ann has studied their history and their work including the Calusa masks exhibited in the University of Florida museum.  She uses PMC to closely interpret the complex wooden carvings in three dimensional jewelry of fine silver.

Project:  A PMC fine silver mask inspired by examples of Calusa designs.
