This project combines the beauty of fine silver with the dazzling color of glass enamels. Start with a pure silver pendant or pin, created with PMC. After it is fired and polished, add a coat of eye-popping color with enamel powders. The finished piece will catch a lot of attention.
Project: PMC fine silver textured pendant embellished with glass enamel.
Techniques:
- Design pendants for enamel.
- Design and outline "cloissens" using syringe.
- Learn the types of enamels and which are safest and most reliable.
- "Wet pack" enamel on the surface of the silver.
- Layer enamel in steps and fire it safely.
- Discuss problems and issues associated with trying to fix enamel mistakes.
Class Supplies Kit: PMC3 clay and PMC3 syringe, glass enamel powders
Class Kit Fee: The instructor will provide a set of enamels for use in class. Colors will be those proven to give good results. At the time of the class students may purchase Enamel Kits for use at home.
Students to bring to class: Optivisor (or similar)
The fee for a one day class at Bead Boutique is $95.
Basic supplies for the class are available for purchase from the instructors at the time of the class.
