"The nature of glass allows adding an incredible power to the sculptural image by reacting with light."

9-6 Friday and Saturday

9-3 Sunday

$595.00 Full Tuition (limit 8 non-refundable)

$295.00 Audit Only (limit 2 non-refundable)

Coffee, snacks & lunch each day are included.

All casting materials included (clay, forms, mold mix).

10lbs of Uroboros System 96 Casting Billets included

This fun and intensely packed hands-on 3-day class will introduce students to Mark's highly expressive clay-to-wax sculpting technique. Students will create forms in clay into which wax will be poured to create a model. The models will then be invested into refractory molds for glass casting using Uroboros Glass Mold Mix. Each student will make one relief and one 3D sculpture which will be fired at the end of class. Pieces will be available to be picked up or shipped about a week after the class ends.

Mark will cover in detail:

Refractory mold mixing and how to coat your wax model.

Steaming out the mold and cleaning it up to charge with glass.

Firing schedules and how to set up a kiln to fire cast work.

All aspects of glass casting to allow students to continue on their own post -workshop.

What to bring: notepad & writing tool, glass cutter, breaking pliers & ideas!

No previous fusing experience required, but is helpful. Sculptors working in other media are encouraged to sign up. This class will be taught using System 96 glass, however the techniques taught will work with 90 COE glass as well.

Class size is limited, register early to reserve your spot!
