Glass Color Mixing, Stringer/Filati, Twistie and Murrini For Beginners

This class does not require any previous flameworking experience. It's a great class for fusers and mosaic artists as well as beginner flameworkers!

Such a long title, but such a fun class.  This class is designed for fusers, mosaicists or even beginning flameworkers who want to get comfortable using a torch and learn how to mix colors, make simple stringers, twisties and murrini.

Some days, you need just the perfect color for your art, but can't find it in your glass supply. Join national instructor, Marcy Lamberson to learn color mixing tricks using soft glass. Find out how our typical color wheel rules, don't always apply to molten glass.

We'll look at combining all variations of transparent, opaque (opals) and see some other types of glass that are available as well. Feel free to bring in your art pieces or color chips that you are trying to match, so Marcy can help guide you to what you need.

And then we will work our way through getting used to stretching molten glass using different methods into stringers or filati, twisties, and simple murrini. By the end of class, you'll be able to manipulate glass and pull your stringer to your desired thickness. We'll explore a few styles and Marcy will have lots of tips and tricks to help make your new skills a big success.

No previous torch experience needed. We'll review torch and safety basics and get the feel of working with molten glass. Lots of fun and learning time. Please feel free to bring a variety of glass rod in the COE that you typically use in your art, if applicable. You will have some time to experiment with it, as well as the 104 COE that we will supply for use in class.

Tuition is $175.00.  A 50% deposit is required at time of registration.
