Pate de Verre and Kiln Cast Glass
Pate de verre translates from French as paste of glass and was popular in the last half of the 19th century. It is a specific technique, and most artists today practice many variations of it. Dan Fenton discusses several methods of casting glass in a kiln as well as the "true" pate de verre in Part I of this two-part series.
The Seduction of Pain:
Judith Schaechter's Stained Glass World

She's fascinated by criminal minds, comic books, daytime talk shows and unsolved mysteries. Her work has been described by critics as "creepily exquisite", "compulsively moralistic", "haunting, hallucinatory stained glass visions".

Photo Resists
Photographically generated resist materials are revolutionizing the art and business of glass etching. These types of resists, almost unheard of 10 years ago, are giving etching artists new avenues of expression and etching businesses new possibilities for profit. Norm Dobbins presents an overview in Part I of this two-part series.

Decorative Soldering
In this excerpt from Kay Bain Weiner's new book, Stained Glass, the finer points of decorative soldering are discussed. The application of decorative pattern seams on the solder joints adds a professional finish and can turn any project into a work of art.

Kim's Final Word
The problem of survival is solved when you resign yourself to the fact that the very definition of survival to man is the process of constantly improving his life.
