Journeying to the Light:
Sarah Hall's Windows at St. Marguerite d'Youville

For a thousand years, pilgrims have been traveling the road, or camino, to Santiago de Compostela in north-western Spain, the site traditionally regarded as the tomb of St. James the Apostle. Some have done it to save their souls, others to expiate a sin. But Father Wayne Manne may be the first person ever to do it for the sake of a stained glass window. Peter Coffman reports.

Introduction to Coldworking: Part I

Milon Townsend begins a series of articles intended to increase and broaden your understanding of the possibilities and processes involved in coldworking glass. He will be drawing from his own experience as well as tapping into the advice and insight of artists who focus on this technique.
"A Fitting Vessel for a Community's Soul":
The Ames Library and its Pembroke Windows

In the late '90s, when Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) joined the group of American colleges sending students to Pembroke, a vital academic link for students was created. IWU had no idea this new relationship would also lead to the acquisition of a wonderful display for its new Ames Library. In May of 2001, the Pembroke windows arrived in wooden crates, and Terry Garbe and his staff at A Touch of Glass, Normal, Illinois, performed near miracles in the restoration of these treasured works of art.

In the Beginning Part II: Herstory

This chapter was excerpted with permission from Lucartha Kohler's new book, Women Working in Glass, A Schiffer Art Book. Take a fascinating look at women's contributions to the glass arts over the ages.

The Antrim Decade Celebration

Victoria Kearney takes us to a celebration of a decade of classes in traditional disciplines of the stained glass profession. Held August 23 - 24 in the New Hampshire town of Antrim, this gathering was arranged by Dick Millard to celebrate what was referred to as the "Antrim Decade."

The Frosting on the Cake

With the exception of cutting, the most mysterious and fearsome technique is light frosting or shading - a shade or gradation less than solid white or a solid frost. Butch Young reveals the age-old secret of the light frost.

Planning Your Internet Marketing Budget:

Integrating the Internet into your business plan is key in helping you stretch your marketing dollar. Ann Sanborn asks: Are you being too frugal with your money for Internet expenses? Do you have an Internet presence? Good old-fashioned common sense will determine your success in using the Internet as a marketing resource.
